The selection and branding of a music district should have a high concentration of music venues and clubs, potential to attract related businesses (restaurants, retail, lodging, etc.) and reflect Columbus’ unique cultural identity. The process should be authentic and build on local strengths rather than copying other cities.
Establishing a vibrant music district within the city would attract more visitors and residents, increasing foot traffic and fostering cross-promotion and collaborative events among businesses.
Capacity-building investments should focus on developing both local audiences and artists, increasing the visibility of Columbus as a music destination and ensuring measurable growth in jobs, economic impact and community engagement with the music community.
To build a thriving music ecosystem, Music Columbus and related organizations need dedicated funding streams (like the Admissions Fee), strong partnerships with prominent organizations attracting visitors, and clear goals for audience and artist development.
